Our Past…

In 1908, Reverend Friar from Tahlequah came to Chouteau and held a revival meeting in a tent on the corner of Olney and Gray Street, where the original church building stood.  As a result of this meeting, the First Baptist Church of Chouteau was organized.

In 1910, the frame church building was erected.  Before the building was completed the congregation met in the afternoons at the Methodist and Presbyterian churches.

In 1916, Reverend J. Crawford was pastor of the church.  Other pastors of the church were: Reverends A.L. Steins, Purser, Ed Foreman, Dee Watkins, Starling Bynum, Bill Fleming, M.E.
