Questions and Answers…

How will we raise the money for our building project?

The Capital Stewardship Leadership Team has begun a 3-month campaign entitled Forward in Faith to secure pledges for the new building.

How does the program work?

Each church member will be asked to commit to a weekly or monthly sacrificial pledge for the next 3 years.  This amount will be above and beyond our normal giving.

How do I know what to give?

First and foremost, pray about your part.  Not everyone will give the same amount or in the same manner.  Be open to God’s leadership.

What is a sacrificial gift?

Sacrificial giving is a big task.  It tests our acceptance of our place of service under Christ.  It tests to see if we are willing to allow our standard of living to be determined by the will of God and not solely by the size of our income.  The dictionary defines sacrificial giving as “surrendering something prized for the sake of a higher claim.”

Does the Bible give examples of sacrificial giving that would help me understand?

In Mark 12, Jesus told His disciples that a widow who gave 2 mites had given more than all the others combined because she gave all she had.  The others had given only of their abundance.  Another example is found in Acts 4 where Barnabas sold his estate and gave the money to be used among the brethren.

When will the pledges be made?

A special day called “Commitment Sunday” is scheduled for April 13th

Should this pledge be a part of my regular tithe and offering?

To ensure the success of our project, our giving must be over and above our regular tithes and offerings.  By giving sacrificially, we will each do our part to help FBC Chouteau move Forward in Faith.

Can I change my pledge later?

Yes.  None of us know what lies ahead.  We may be blessed with unanticipated resources and be able to increase our pledges.  Others may be forced to lower their level of giving due to unforeseen circumstances.  God is faithful.  He will guide us as we give.

When will pledges start?

We will offer our first pledges on Sunday, April 13th.  We urge you to spend time now praying about what God would have you pledge to the work He has called us to do.
